What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a modern orthodontic treatment that corrects the teeth using transparent, removable braces (aligners). Using advanced 3D technology, a series of aligners are customised. Step by step, each aligner moves the teeth towards the desired end result. Each aligner is worn for an average of two weeks, after which the next aligner in the series takes over.

Any treatment always begins with an intake at our practice in Amsterdam.

| 1 | Intake | During the intake, the dentist examines your teeth and discusses your wishes. You will receive an indication of the treatment duration and costs. |
| 2 | Personalised treatment plan | Based on the intake, we will draw up a treatment plan and show you an example of the end result. Unique 3D technology allows us to predict what your teeth will look like during every step of the treatment. |
| 3 | Custom aligners | Using an oral scanner, we will make a digital impression of your teeth. This is used to produce the series of aligners. |
| 4 | Invisible braces | You will receive your first set of aligners from the dentist as well as clear instructions on how to wear, remove and clean them. |
| 5 | Periodic check-ups | We will schedule monthly appointments to check your progress. If necessary, the dentist will make minor adjustments to the pressure points of the braces. |
| 6 | Aftercare with a fixed retainer | Afterwards, we will place a fixed retainer behind your teeth to maintain the results. This is included in the treatment. |
Frequently asked questions
How long will this treatment take?
The duration of treatment depends on your current situation and desired results, as well as your own commitment. The braces must be worn according to the instructions to get the best results. On average, treatment takes 6 to 18 months.
Are invisible braces reimbursed?
Most health insurers consider Invisalign® to be a cosmetic treatment. Only a supplementary orthodontics insurance or a medical indication makes (partial) reimbursement possible. Please check this with your health insurer. During the first consultation, we will give you a quote which you can then check with your insurer.
Is the treatment painful?
At the beginning and with each new set of Invisalign®, you may experience some light pressure. This is normal and a sign that the braces are working. Usually, the pressure will subside after a few days.
How many hours per day should the aligners be worn?
For the best results, we recommend wearing the braces for at least 22 hours a day. This way, the treatment progresses faster.
Can I eat and drink whilst wearing the aligners?
Remove the aligners before drinking coloured drinks or consuming any food. Otherwise the aligners might show some discolouration and become more visible. You may wear the aligners while drinking water.
