Child-friendly approach
For many children, a visit to the dentist can be a little scary. That is why we give children time and space to get used to us. We always take our time to explain what we are going to do in a way children understand. This way, your child will feel comfortable and we will build their trust.
The first visit to the dentist
From the age of 2, you may bring your child to your checkup appointment. This allows your child to become familiar with our dental practice in a playful manner. We will get acquainted, show them the treatment room and (if your child is up to it) they may sit in the chair. The dentist will then carefully count their teeth.
Periodic checkups
Once your child has gotten used to going to the dentist, we will start regular checkups. During these checkups we will pay attention to the health of the teeth and give targeted advice on brushing, oral habits, nutrition and lifestyle. This is how we can avoid long-term problems.
Preventive measures
Preventing something is better than curing it. Healthy gums, strong teeth and a balanced oral microbiome are essential. Preventive care includes:

Does your child have a cavity?
In spite of preventive measures, your child might still get a cavity. In this case, we will calmly explain to your child what is happening and what we can do about it. We will take the time for an open conversation and make sure your child feels safe during their treatment. Where possible, we will opt for minimally invasive techniques.
Braces
Does your child have crooked teeth or misaligned jaws? Then, in consultation, we can start orthodontic treatment. We work with both fixed and removable braces. Proper development of the mouth and jaw contributes to healthy breathing, speech and even posture.
Frequently asked questions
How often should my child have a checkup?
We recommend having your child’s teeth checked twice a year. This way we can keep the teeth healthy and spot any problems in time.
What fees apply to children's dentistry?
Most dental treatments for children up to 18 years old are fully covered by the basic health insurance. This includes checkups, prevention and fillings. Braces require supplementary insurance. Check with your health insurer for their terms and conditions.
Why are baby teeth important?
Baby teeth lay the foundation for healthy adult teeth. Problems with the baby teeth can have lasting effects on overall oral health.
Is nutrition important for baby teeth?
Healthy eating supports the body and your child’s overall oral health. A deficiency in certain vitamins or minerals affects the condition of the teeth, gums and jawbone.
