What is a CBCT scan?
CBCT is short for Cone Beam Computed Tomography. This is a modern X-ray technique that creates three-dimensional (3D) images of the mouth, jawbone, nerve pathways and soft tissues. Unlike a traditional 2D X-ray, a CBCT scan provides a full spatial overview of the area to be treated. This enables razor-sharp mapping of even the smallest details.
We use this technique for:
Benefits of CBCT
How does a CBCT scan work?
The CBCT machine rotates around your head in just a matter of seconds. While a cone-shaped X-ray beam irradiates the area, hundreds of images are taken. These are digitally processed into an accurate 3D model. Our CBCT radiation expert will then analyse the image from all angles. This forms a valuable basis for a customised treatment plan.
